Golden Bay Resort Accommodation
Our Tukurua property has long been favored as an excellent place to live Golden Bay. The beach and land were home to Maori people possibly as early as the 1400's.The blackened soil where the villas are built is evidence that it was used as a garden possibly for growing kumura (sweet potato). The land was an ideal spot being a sheltered sandy section with a year round stream for water and a gently sloping sandy beach where the sea was never very far way for fishing. Two large middens (rubbish dumps) are evidence that shellfish were collected and and part of the diet over a long period of time.
